The Spark of the 21st Century

With the emerging technologies and advanced digital ecosystem comes the need for the right tools and skillset needed to elevate our digital world for the better. The digital world is changing rapidly and there comes the need for more technologies to be adapted and more secure algorithms to be implemented in our digital landscape to protect the digital world from emerging threats and adversaries that threaten our cyber resilience.

The spark starts with innovation and creativity, for example, to secure our web surfing we need newer cryptographic algorithms that improve the current security concepts that we have. For instance, in the past, we used to have HTTP, Hypertext Transfer Protocol, but then after that in a reasonable timeframe HTTPS came out to address the encryption issue, we had previously with HTTP.

The other innovation in cryptography was Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), while ECC was proposed in the 1980’s it’s used in various standards such as TLS and Bitcoin and many mobile devices due to its efficiency and security.
