The Ultimate transformation from sysadmin to SOC Analyst

In every person’s career some roadmaps and experiences are different for everyone, in Cyber Security and Infosec there is no clear roadmap that you must take to land your dream job but instead, there is a long-tangled roadmap.

Cyber Security is a broad field, everyone has different skills and expertise, some aspiring hackers are into the blue team and defense where they are curious and love to analyze data. The others are into a red team where they seek greatness by spawning reverse shells and gaining access to various devices and machines, they are vigilant and always adapting their penetration tactics to the fullest.

My transition to SOC Analyst was rather simple, I’ve kept applying for multiple jobs and positions and kept improving my skills, also writing articles on medium after documenting my writeups and lab machines from either Hackthebox, Tryhackme, or Offsec’s proving grounds.

Strategies I use when hunting for jobs are reaching out to HR directly after applying for the related job position and continuously reaching out to the job poster.
